Patient rights and duties

Under Resolution 13437 of 1991 and Statutory Law 1751 of 2015, every person treated at this practice has the following rights and assumes the following duties.

Rights

To receive dignified care, without discrimination on grounds of origin, sex, age, financial circumstances, beliefs or orientation.
To know the name and qualifications of the professional providing their care.
To receive clear, complete information about their diagnosis, the proposed procedure, its alternatives, its risks and the prognosis, in language they can understand.
To accept or refuse the procedure through informed consent, given freely and revocable at any time before the intervention.
To have their medical record and health data treated confidentially, and to access them on request.
To know the cost of the procedure before authorising it.
To request a second medical opinion.
To submit complaints, claims or suggestions and receive a reply.
To die with dignity and to have their wish to let the process of death follow its natural course respected.

Duties

To give truthful, complete information about their state of health, medical history, allergies and any medication they take. Much of the safety of the procedure depends on this.
To follow pre- and post-operative instructions and attend scheduled check-ups.
To treat staff and other patients with respect.
To meet the financial commitments agreed.
To give advance notice when they cannot attend a scheduled appointment.

Informed consent

No procedure is carried out without signed informed consent. It sets out the procedure, the planned technique, the general and specific risks, the alternatives available, the aftercare and the reasonable expectations of the result. The results of plastic surgery depend on individual factors — healing, skin quality, habits — and no professional can guarantee an exact result.
